Ability is never
a limitation

Taekwon-Do is for everyone — regardless of age, ability, or background. We welcome students with intellectual and physical disabilities into a respectful, structured pathway where they train, grow, and thrive.

Inclusion at our core

Not a separate programme — part of who we are

At NZ ITF Taekwon-Do, inclusion sits at the heart of everything we do. We proudly welcome students with intellectual and/or physical disabilities, offering dedicated support and a safe, structured pathway for development.

Classes run during the day and in the evenings throughout the week, so families and individuals can find times that work for them. Our dedicated Inclusive Taekwon-Do class runs Thursday evenings, 6:30–7:30 PM, and all welcome — see the full class timetable.

What makes it special

Built around every individual

Adapted training methods

Classes are tailored to individual learning needs, supporting growth in skill, confidence, and independence.

Unified learning

Students of all abilities often train together, building a team culture of mutual respect, encouragement, and friendship.

Individual progression

Everyone can succeed. Grading and goal-setting are flexible and focused on each student's unique journey.

Skilled, caring instructors

Our instructors are experienced across a wide range of needs and supported by ongoing inclusive training.

Opportunities to shine

Many inclusive athletes have earned black belts and won gold at World Championships, representing New Zealand on the world stage.

A place to belong

Each year brings competitions and events our athletes look forward to and truly love — experiences that build pride and friendship.

Celebrating success

Champions, leaders, role models

Many of our inclusive students have become leaders and role models, achieving success both in New Zealand and internationally. Our centre has produced multiple gold medallists and high-achieving athletes with disabilities who continue to inspire others.

These students are not just participants — they are champions, leaders, and powerful examples of what inclusive Taekwon-Do can achieve.

Getting started

Three simple steps

New to Taekwon-Do, or supporting someone who is? There's no experience needed, and no pressure — here's how it begins.

Reach out

Send us a message or give us a call. Tell us a little about the student — there are no wrong questions.

We learn your goals

We talk through needs, support requirements, and what you'd love to achieve, then find the right class and time.

Train & thrive

Start training in a supportive environment, progress at your own pace, and grade and compete when you're ready.

Local impact, global vision

Leading inclusive Taekwon-Do worldwide

NZ ITF leads the way in inclusive Taekwon-Do across Aotearoa and proudly supports the International Inclusive Taekwon-Do Association (IITA) — an international network connecting inclusive programmes under a unified standard. From Hawke's Bay to the world stage, we continue to break down barriers and promote equal opportunity in every class we teach.
